When Quayce was a referee for the Russell Soccer Club, he would get a lot of games, and email a lot of game reports. But he would it at any hour of the day, and whenever he pleased. And he knew that there were 140 other people doing the same thing. So, after being part of the work-flow for a year, Quayce approached the coordinator and asked to take over the assigning process. Using a variety of tools such as Wordpress, Google-Docs and Spreadsheets, he set up an online system that took the stress off the coordinating team. The next year, that team became just Quayce and his computer. That year, he began refining the system by inluding Numbers formulas and Google Calendar email alerts. These new features allowed referees to do all the dirty work with a few clicks, and allowed the club to generate a payroll in a matter of minutes. Now that the system is up and running, all Quayce does is show up to the fields, smile and wave to the referees, and check up on the system to make sure it is running smoothly.
